What is sex therapy?

Sex therapy is specialized counseling focused on improving your sexual health, relationships, and self-confidence. It takes place in a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you can talk openly about intimacy, desire, and sexual challenges.

Who can benefit from sex therapy?

Sex therapy is for individuals and couples. You don’t need to be in a relationship to start. Kim works with clients addressing low desire, performance anxiety, sexual pain, trauma recovery, communication problems, and more.

Are you LGBTQ+ affirming?

Absolutely. Kim is deeply committed to providing an inclusive, affirming, and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ clients. She welcomes clients of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship styles, and has extensive experience supporting clients navigating related challenges.

How long does sex therapy take?

Unlike traditional counseling, sex therapy is strategic and goal-oriented. Some issues resolve in a few sessions, while more complex challenges may require longer-term work. Kim tailors each treatment plan to your unique goals.

How do I know if sex therapy is right for me?

If you are experiencing sexual difficulties, relationship stress, or simply want to better understand your sexuality, sex therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to address these issues. Many clients seek therapy after struggling in silence or feeling isolated in their experiences.

Do I need a partner to start therapy?

No. Many clients seek individual therapy for personal sexual concerns. Couples are encouraged to attend together when comfortable, but individual sessions remain valuable for personal growth and healing.

Do I need a partner to start therapy?

Common concerns include:

  • Loss of intimacy or low libido
  • Erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation
  • Sexual pain, arousal, or lubrication difficulties
  • Out-of-control sexual behavior / sex addiction
  • Past sexual trauma or abuse
  • Infidelity, trust rebuilding, and communication breakdowns
  • Exploration of sexual orientation or identity
  • Open relationships, polyamory, kink, fetishes, and asexuality

Do you accept insurance?

Ms. Yost is an out-of-network provider. This means clients pay for sessions in full at the time of service and receive an invoice (“superbill”) to submit to their insurance company for possible reimbursement. Many plans reimburse up to 80% for out-of-network therapy. Be sure to ask your insurance provider about coverage for CPT codes 90834-GT and 90837-GT (virtual sessions). Read More.
